GOOD MORNING!

Today is a busy day here. I'm off shortly to Blanket Club with my cousins, leaving there early to go to the school for parent/teacher meetings...then home here with the kids....gymnastics tonight for my youngest. I promised her I would stay for the whole meet tonight...I usually go shopping for a bit and then come back for the last 15 minutes. I don't mind staying for it all, I'm glad she wants me to....however, there are times when I can't see her, as they do different sections and some don't have a good viewing area from the parents room. I have some yarn I bought the other day, I think I will take it with me and start a scarf.....that will give me something to do when I can't see her.

Today is election day for all the US Bloggers! Exciting day! I imagine that my husband and myself will watch some of the coverage tonight.

I am pleased with the amount of decluttering I got done yesterday. I still have lots more to do, but I have a bag of clothes from my closet and also a bag of youngest DD's clothes (her and I went through her clothes last night) to take with me this morning for donation.

Tomorrow my son has no school. He is in grade 9 and each grade 9 student is encouraged to go with a parent, or someone that the parent approves of, (and has permission to do so) and go to work with them! So, he has decided to go to work with DH. DH is a salesman for a certain company and works independantly, so he has planned a day tomorrow for DS and himself. When my oldest DD was in grade 9, she job shadowed her dance teacher!

Monday morning....this and that....

Good morning!!

It's another sunny day here in Eastern Canada!! Yippee!!

Today I am cleaning and decluttering!! I was going to start in youngest DD's room,but decided to start with our room. I am in the mood to get rid of clothes I haven't worn in a while...it's such a nice feeling! I will not finish today, but have gotten a good start!

I'm showing you a photo of a tiny part of the room that is organized. We are planning on painting over these walls soon....it's not first on the agenda, but will get done sometime in the next few months...as well as new curtains.....anyway, this bureau was my dad's. I use it for my clothes now. The wooden box on top of the bureau was given to me by my grandmother when I was 4 years old (she wrote it on the bottom). Inside I just have some things my mom had put in there....but one thing which I find kind of neat is a letter that my grandmother wrote to my mom when I was about 2 years old. Keep in mind, my grandmother only lived 8 miles from my mom! She knew that mom liked to get mail, so she wrote her a letter and basically told her what was going on that day, and she included a quarter for me and some thread and button holders for my mom's coat. My mom still has the button holders my gram made in that letter! And the extra thread! I think that's so neat. I love little bits of history like that.

I started a new Swedish Weaving Blanket yesterday! This one is for my friend Betty. No special occasion, so no real hurry to get it done. She's one of those friends that is very special. She lives over 100 miles from me, but at one time many years ago, we were roommates. She is a giver...and has done so much for me over the years, it's nice to be able to give HER something just because. I think she will like it.

I'm also showing you my youngest on Halloween. She got alot of goodies. I drove her and her friend around....she told me where she wanted to go. They had alot of fun and gave up before 8, they were exhausted!!

AN UPDATE on the girl that was living with us....I talked to her yesterday when I drove her to town. I told her she could stay until November 15. I was just a little concerned that the dates were getting delayed, etc. She said she was thinking about things and wanted to try and work things out with her dad, so she called last night and said she was going to try and stay with him. At least she knows she CAN come back here during those two weeks, and also, knowing it is only two weeks might do both her and her dad good...and maybe they will work things out.

My heart goes out to her.

Anyway, I must get back to cleaning!!

ANOTHER DAY......MORE UNDECIDED THOUGHTS..

Good morning one and all!
It is a cool, sunny day here in Eastern Canada.

I am still undecided as to what to do about DD's friend. I guess I will see how I feel when I talk to her later. I am a little annoyed that it was not discussed with us that she wasn't moving Nov 1. It wasn't even mentioned until my daughter talked to her last night. My daughter and her both had to work yesterday, so we figured she would come get her things around supper time. She doesn't have furniture or anything here, just some clothes, etc. However, when DD asked if she was moving, she said no, the apt isn't ready until Nov 15!! Ummm....well, it would have been nice if we had been told that! I'm cranky today, as I'm having issues as to what to do in this situation. 1. We offered her a place to stay until she found a new one, but we were told by her and her grandmother it would be the end of October at the VERY latest. 2. I hate to leave her with no place to go, however, we are not her parents or legal guardians, and she does have alot of other friends....I'm not sure I'm willing to do another 2 weeks, I feel we have been more than generous in this situation. 3. I'm scared that the two weeks will come and go and she will STILL be here!!

Enough on that....I'm just thinking out loud.

Today my youngest is going to see High School Musical 3 with a couple of friends. I will drop them off, make sure they get their tickets and spend an hour and a bit Christmas shopping! I've got a list of things I want to get close to the Theatre, so it should work well.

Anyway, must get my day started.

NOVEMBER!

I will be back with a decent post tomorrow sometime. I have been having issues with this blog all day...and some of my "things" are not showing up on the side!



We had an uneventful Halloween,and everything went smoothly.



I'm trying to decide what I should do with my oldest DD's friend that has been staying here for the past month.....she was supposed to move out today, but the apt isn't ready. I had so hoped this would be an easy transition for her and for us, but apparently the apt isn't ready until Nova 15. I really did want my house back to normal. I am still undecided as to what we are going to do. We do not charge rent, nor will we...that brings on a whole new set of rules that I do not want to get into.....we are letting her stay rent free...however, there are conditions.....and for the most part...she has been wonderful. I just want things back to normal though...at the same time, I feel sorry for her.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

It's a cool, chilly day here, but the sun is shining, and it's supposed to warm up a bit for the trick or treaters tonight!


My oldest was late leaving for school this morning...this is why!! Her and her friend that has been staying with us got dressed up. My daughter (the bunny) went to the Dollar Store and bought ears and a boa....used her white clothes and dressed as a bunny. She has to work after school and then to a Halloween party! Her friend, (who is moving out to a new place tomorrow) dressed as a gangster of sorts....origional.....and made use of what she had....they made a cute couple....LOL...now picture these two driving down the road to school dressed like this. They wanted me to take some photos before they left.

I tried to post this a bit earlier in the day, but couldn't get my photos to upload...anyway, now I have youngest and friend home here and in a bit we will have some pizza and head out.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVE!

It's sunny, but cold here today....and forecast for Halloween is a bit chilly and sun!! I am taking youngest and her friend out trick or treating tomorrow night.....her friend is coming here after school, and I will pick up a pizza to have to eat before we go out.

Today I want to say a big thank you to my husband. This isn't in my nature to be gushy, but I feel like he deserves a thank you. We have been together for 22 years, and we have been through alot financially and otherwise. He is always the one that carries the burden of being positive...I am the "what if" person. My husband has been working as a salesman for a company for 9 years...and for the last couple of years, on the side is also working on his own business. He has had setbacks...but now, seems to be moving ahead some. I do not tell him how much I appreciate him....nor do I tell him to follow his dreams...but life is too short and I am proud of him for following his dreams!

My cousin's husband passed away suddenly in July. They had been together since their late teens (she is now 60)....and this week she bought a new house! Her and her husband had this large (7 bedroom home) that they bought about 25 years ago. It isn't what you would call a cozy home, and their two kids have grown and left....not to mention the fact that her husband had been somewhat of a "hoarder"....she has so much junk in that house!! Anyway, about 3 weeks ago, we were at her sister's house, as we are each week, working on our swedish weaving and she noticed the house across the steet had gone up for sale! Long story short, she bought the house!! It is a really cozy, sweet bungalow. And what is most important is that it is only 4 minutes from her daughter! And, ofcourse across the street from her sister and brother-in-law! I am so happy for her! It also has a gorgeous view of water! (something that is important to her). I am proud of her, it wasn't easy to make this decision so soon, but she will be so happy there.

Life throws you curve balls every now and then...you have to deal with them, make the best of the situation and move on. This has been a random post...I realize that....but I am so thankful for what I do have in life....and will not be taking it for granted anymore.

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS...

I'd like to do a random post today about a few of my favourite things (besides my family) around my home......this is my mom's china and glassware.....she loved her china.....it's called "Blossom Time" and is very delicate. She had quite a collection of glassware, which is "Cornflower" pattern. When mom passed away, I inherited these....this particular china will some day belong to my oldest daughter.










See this bride and groom? This was on the top of my parents wedding cake...they also had 4 others, (it was a two tier cake) and I was able to find 3, which are randomly placed in the cabinet. I found them in various places of my parents home, when I was cleaning it out. Funny, I had never thought about what they were from until I looked at their wedding photos.


I also want to show you a few of her pieces that I have placed on top of the china cabinet. (Ignore the dust!!). The china cup and saucer with the lady on the front is over 100 years old. I always liked this when it was in mom's house.
