Getting Away!

So...the entire family...(3 kids, DH and the dog!!) went away for two nights/3 days!! It was absolutely wonderful! In a summer that has been mostly rain, we had wonderful weather! No internet, no TV, no phone (except for cell in emergency)...and home cooked meals in the cabin!

I did not plan activities...the kids found their own....canoeing by the cabin, badminton, ball, walking to the small town for slushies...it was great! It was kind of bittersweet as well, our oldest, who is 18 came with us, and this might be the last year that she was so eager...but she DID have a fabulous time....dispite the fact that she lost every card game she played to her dad! LOL

Our dog thought that DH was trying to kill her....taking her to that giant bathtub two days in a row!!! She was ready to jump into any car that would take her away and she's not a social typ dog! LOL

Here are a few highlights of our little trip (we were only about 2 hours from home).

WHERE I HAVE BEEN....

Hello bloggers!! I've been a bit busy this past week.....excuse some of the photos, I can't seem to edit them today for some reason, so you're stuck with what they actually looked like..LOL
Anyway, last Monday the youngest two and I headed out for a night away. Oldest was working, DH and our dog stayed home.....we drove to a Super 8 Motel about two hours from here.....and I do have to say, it was a nice little break. We did this a couple of years ago at a different Super 8.
This time I booked the room which included the gift card for supper, so we had supper and our breakfast looked after, which made the decisions much easier! We stopped to shop a bit along the way, as I had promised DS that he could get his Nike runners for school...he did, he was happy.

While at the Motel, I took advantage of the Hot Tub, and DD took advantage of the water slide. DS is at that age, where he just watched....LOL....but he still enjoyed it.

Later in the week, Thursday actually, we took advantage of it not raining the entire day (what a month for rain!!) and DH, youngest DD and DS went to the zoo...this particular zoo is about 2 and 1/2 hours away, so I also took advantage of visiting the LNS (local needwork store) that is in that city....I don't hardly ever get to do this, so it's always thrilling to actually SEE everything and not just order online. I was quite good though and promised I'd only be a few minutes...I did get two charts and some threads though.......and then we were off to the zoo.

Because it has been so rainy, I have also been working on my Fairy...she's got legs now!!!!

Just a bit more stitching and the beading and she will be done!!

MORE ON OUR VACATION AND ANOTHER RAINY DAY!!

Happy Saturday morning! We have had rain at some point every day for over a week! Some days ALL day! Yes, I know, it's good for the soil, etc....but gee, it is still summer isn't it??

I promised more on our little vacation a few posts ago...so here we go....the above is my youngest, swimming off the boat in the middle of Northumberland Strait. She had a fantastic time! We told her she was swimming with the seals and dolphins, as we saw both that day.Here she is on top of another boat that had anchored with us in the Strait. You can see my son with his white hat on....

HEAT AND HUMIDITY!!

It is so hot and humid!! I have no energy and feel like the life is sucked out of me!! We had a great time on vacation for a few days, and I will share some photos with you over the next few posts!!

On a totally different topic....I am going to see Elton John in September!! I tried unsuccessfully to get tickets online this am....when they went on sale, but my cousin was trying as well and she got some!! Woohoo!! Can't wait!!

This is the view we looked at each night we were gone. I have seen this view so many times in my lifetime. I spent each of my summers here until I was 19..at that time my parents sold our cottage and over time...my cousin and her husband bought it! It's nice to be able to go back once in a while. I also changed the header on the blog...I took this photo last week...it's the same place as the previous photo, just that this is one I took

We settled in to our camper on the cottage property. It was actually quite cozy in there. We arrived on Friday afternoon, our family reunion was on Saturday. We had lots of fun at that, but for privacy reasons, I will not share any photos, as I do not have permission. On Sunday morning my oldest, her boyfriend, my DH and our dog returned home. My youngest DD and my son and I stayed on in the camper. We enjoyed various walks on the beach (my own little piece of heaven....it is one of the best places on earth for me)

On Monday morning, my youngest and I got up early and had breakfast and headed for an early morning walk on the beach....doesn't this photo just say it all????

You can just see her walking along the shoreline in this photo....there were only a few early morning cottagers out for their morning stroll...other than that...the beach was empty.

The sun has completely come up in this photo...the beach still empty......the water...COLD..lol

I'll share some more photos and stories next post...I'm just thankful I managed to get this much done today....now back to the heat and humidity!!

I'M BAAAACCCCK!!!!!

After almost a week away, the youngest two and I arrived back last night. I have much many photos to upload and great stories to tell, but that will have to wait until later today. I will also be trying to catch up on all that I missed on everyone's blogs!!
